Artlin put on our first ever Charity Poker Night on February 25th 2021 in support of our quest to feed 1,000 people through Capital Area Food Bank. During the month of February, Artlin collected “buy-ins” in the form of donations for the food bank. Our fundraising drive was a massive success! Artlin employees turned out and we shattered our goal and donated a total of 3,498 meals at 2 meals per dollar! Our employees participated our high stakes poker game with several others joining to watch the contest – fun was had by all!
Operation Second Chance Scholarship Fundraiser
Operation Second Chance is a local, Maryland based, organization offering assistance to wounded, injured, and ill service members and veterans, and further aiding their assimilation back into active duty or civilian life. Every year, OSC provides grants for qualifying service members, veterans, and their families in pursuit of higher education. The number of individuals they are able to assist depends on funds raised by the organization. From August to December 2020, Artlin held a fundraising campaign to fully fund at leastone scholarship for the Operation Second Chance Scholarship Program. We raised $3,900 from Artlin employees, as well as friends and family, bringing the total donated to $5,000 for the 2021 scholarship grants.
Operation Covert Santa
Through Husky Elf and the Operation Covert Santa SMS Foundation, Artlin was able to sponsor an injured service member and her family for the holiday season. We were assigned a sergeant in the US Air Force who suffered a serious injury while training that left her with some paralysis and some mental health issues as a result of the huge life changes that have altered her active lifestyle. Artlin employees purchased and wrapped no shortage of clothing, toys, gift cards, and more to bring extra cheer to the family during a difficult holiday season.
Artlin employees participated in the global GivingTuesday movement by supporting several organizations we’ve worked with throughout the years. Blessing Box donations were provided to teachers at Cornerstone Schools of DC via their Amazon Wishlist. We continued to support Ronald McDonald House Charities of DC by purchasing this year’s Share A Night ornaments, where each purchase covered a one-night stay for a family at one of the Ronald McDonald Houses. Additionally, team members virtually donated shoeboxes filled with goodies through Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child, which are distributed to children in need across the globe.
Water for People Hike-a-thon in Rock Creek Park
On October 24, 2020, Artlin participated in and sponsored lunch for the hike. Hikers participated in a four mile socially distanced hike in Rock Creek Park which included several water and sanitation themed trivia check points where hikers won prizes and were challenged on their knowledge of global clean water access, sanitation practices and more! Water for People is a global nonprofit that helps people bring clean water and sanitation solutions to communities for generations to come. This event raised thousands of dollars for clean water and sanitation efforts.
Ronald McDonald House Virtual Red Shoe Run 5k
Nearly 60 Artlin family and friends participated in the Virtual 10th Annual Red Shoe 5K between Sunday, October 4 – Sunday, October 11, 2020. Employees walked and ran to raise money and awareness in support of Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Washington, DC. While this year the event was held virtually, the purpose was the same as the past years – to give our community a way to come together (virtually), show support for, and make a positive impact on the families served by Ronald McDonald House Charities. RMHCDC helps families struggling with problems like how to stay near and support a hospitalized child, how to afford staying together in another city while a child is undergoing treatment, or even how to get basic medical care in a vulnerable community. This event raised over $130,000 to help families with sick children! On top of that, Artlin’s very own Timothy Rodriguez came in first place with a time of 19:25!! Operation Covert Santa
Artlin supported Operation Covert Santa by adopting a veteran family to support during the holidays. The US Army veteran sustained serious injuries several years ago during combat and is currently undergoing major surgery and rehabilitation. The Artlin team came together to donate items from the service member’s modest family Christmas wishlist. In addition to the gifts that the family requested, and the many additional generous gifts from our team, Artlin purchased an iPad and house cleaning services for the parents and a virtual reality headset for an Apple Hotwheels set for their sons.
Wreaths Across America
At Artlin, we team with family and friends every December to join Wreaths Across America in support of the fallen, donating and placing wreaths on graves at Arlington National Cemetery. We also participate in the cleanup activities, returning the cemetery to its pristine condition in January.
Capital Area Food Bank
Hunger is a wide-spread problem throughout the world, and our Nation’s capital is no exception. Artlin Consulting is grateful for organizations like the Capital Area Food Bank that work to feed those who struggle to feed themselves. We are proud to say that we have contributed towards ending this battle against hunger with a donation to CAFB, in the hopes that what we can help make a difference.
Cornerstone Schools Classroom Teardown
Artlin staff joined teachers at Cornerstone Schools of Washington DC, in Southeast Washington, to help pack up their classrooms for the summer. The teachers and staff were very thankful for the help (and pizza lunch Artlin provided). We enjoyed talking to the teachers about their love for teaching and their kids.
Animal Welfare League
Artlin consultants and their families volunteered with the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria in May 2019 by creating toys that dispense treats for dogs and cats and assisting the staff with setting up their yard sale. Izaak Walton League Picnic
Artlin consultants and their families participated in the Izaak Walton League Picnic and Fishing Derby by assisting with setting up the event, escorting and assisting guests, and helping with clean up. Each year, the Arlington-Fairfax Chapter of the Izaak Walton League of America hosts a picnic and fishing day for children and adults with physical and life challenges.
Rock Creek Park Cleanup
Artlin consultants and their families volunteered with Blue Planet Scuba and Rock Creek Conservancy by attending yet another Annual Rock Creek Extreme Cleanup in April 2019. We assisted in cleaning up the lands, banks, tributaries, and waters of Rock Creek Park
In September 2018, the Artlin team and our families partnered with Eastern Foundry to raise money for America’s VetDogs. Through bake sales and fundraisers, we raised over $6,000 to sponsor a future service dog, Artie, for a veteran in need. America’s VetDogs provides service and guide dogs to veterans, active-duty service members, and first responders with disabilities.
Artie was born and is currently training with his raiser, Jenn, in Indianapolis, Indiana. If you would like to see what Jenn and Artie are up to, check out their Instagram: @futureservicedog
